Table Asheville

The door at 18 North Lexington is lettered “20 years of,” the sentence cut off by the frame, and a red MICHELIN 2025 plaque, no bigger than a placemat, is bolted into the brick beside it. Jacob and Alicia Sessoms opened Table in 2005, the first of what became several ventures, including All Day Darling, their café in Montford. The Michelin nod, announced in November 2025, put Table on the Guide’s inaugural American South Recommended list, one of fifteen Asheville restaurants on it, none of them starred. Inside, the room runs pale blue-green with arched white wainscoting, long tables lined by wooden chairs, and a banquette that runs the length of the room; above the bar’s brick and bottle shelves hangs a row of black-and-white photographs. The cocktail list stays short and specific. The Mojo Martini stirs vodka with mojo vermouth and olive oil; the Sudsy Lil’ King is a Trinidad-sour riff named for Trini, the dishwasher who inspired it. Café Con Ron washes Lee’s One Fortune Farm brown rice in dark rum, amaro and cold brew for three days before it becomes the cold foam on top. The kitchen keeps pace: trout from Sunburst Farms, milk bread named Heidi’s from Mother Bakery. The patio sits under canvas sun sails against a black brick wall, with a straight sightline across Lexington Avenue to Tops for Shoes. Walk-ins are still always welcome, plaque or no plaque.
